Paul Kohl

Paul is a manager in the Philadelphia Water Department’s internal consulting group called Planning and Research.  Paul oversees several key functional areas of this unit, water research, wastewater research and energy planning.  Within this trio of functional areas also sits a modeling group that conducts computational fluid dynamic runs and integrates distribution system water quality data into a distribution system water quality modeling program.


Paul has over 20 years of experience in environmental engineering.  He is a professional engineer in the state of PA.  Paul teaches as an adjunct professor at Drexel University where he also sits as chair of the Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) Department’s advisory board.  Paul has been the lead investigator (Principle Investigator) and lead author in two, multinational Water Research Foundation (formerly AwwaRF) studies. 


Paul earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Drexel University and later returned to Drexel’s Environmental Studies Institute to obtain a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering.
