Robert Hoehn

Robert Hoehn retired from Virginia Tech in 1997 after 27 years on the faculty of the Charles E. Via Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. He was educated at North Texas State University (BS, M.A.) and the University of Missouri (PhD). His specialties include the identification, prevention, and treatment of taste-and-odor problems in drinking water supplies. He is the author or coauthor of more than 100 technical publications. Awards include AWWA’s A.P. Black Research Award (1996) and the Abel Wolman Award of Excellence (2001), and he served many years on AWWA’s Taste and Odor Committee. Additionally, he served as trustee and chair of the Virginia Section AWWA and AWWA’s Water Quality Division. In 2002, he was inducted into the University of Missouri Civil and Environmental Engineering Department’s Academy of Distinguished Alumni. He is a Life Member of AWWA and was awarded Honorary Membership in that organization in 2003. He also is a member of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and emeritus member of the Association of Environmental and Science Professors. He has been an exclusive Black & Veatch consultant since 1992.
